The Build Story
Mat took on a crashed Ferrari 458 Spider — the mid-engine naturally aspirated V8 Ferrari widely regarded as one of the best driver's cars ever made. He initially attempted to rebuild it within 7 days but the complexity of the project extended beyond that timeframe.
The rebuild involved extensive bodywork including fitting a new rear quarter panel, replacing bonnet hinges and aligning the front panels. Mat collaborated with The Machine Shop for specialist welding and bodywork. The crowning moment came when Ben Collins — the former Stig from Top Gear — test drove the finished 458 at the old Top Gear test track. The build video accumulated 5.8 million views.
