Mat took a massive gamble on a severely wrecked Lamborghini Aventador SVJ Roadster — one of only 800 ever made worldwide. The car had significant front-end crash damage, improperly reassembled parts, missing sensors and disconnected wiring, though notably no airbags had deployed.
After consulting a Lamborghini specialist and implementing a neutral override, Mat got the 6.5L V12 running and took the car for a cautious first drive, naming it Suzanne. Further issues emerged: a rear steering motor communications fault limiting speed to 60 mph, a leaking MagRide shock costing $8,000, and a $6,000 steering motor replacement. The team cleverly transplanted correctly coded electronics from the original motor onto a replacement unit.
The ultimate goal was to beat Jeremy Clarkson's lap time of 1'59" in the same SVJ model. Despite achieving banker laps in the 2'08" range, brake fade and overheating prevented them from matching Clarkson's time.
