The Mercedes C63 AMG W204 houses one of the most celebrated engines in modern motoring — the M156 6.2-litre naturally aspirated V8 producing 457 hp. Mat bought a wrecked 2012 example from salvage and quickly discovered why these cars are expensive to rebuild.
AMG component pricing proved to be the biggest challenge. Sourcing parts from Mercedes for their hand-built V8 sports saloon came with eye-watering price tags, making this one of the most expensive rebuilds relative to the car's value. The series became a cautionary tale about the true cost of AMG ownership.
