Mat purchased a 2002 Lamborghini Murciélago believing it was in usable condition needing light repair. In reality, the car had been abandoned in a garage for seven years with the engine completely removed. What he thought would be straightforward turned into one of his longest-running projects.
Midway through restoration, Mat discovered old YouTube videos from 14 years prior showing the exact same car being thrashed by hundreds of inexperienced drivers at a track day rental company. That explained everything — the destroyed gearbox, mysterious dents, missing badges and worn components. One of the car's previous mechanics had even been in prison.
The body had been wrapped over terrible paintwork, requiring a full strip and respray. Even after three years of ownership, the lime-green Murciélago developed severe electrical problems with every dashboard light illuminating simultaneously. Despite the constant setbacks, Mat chose to keep his dream car rather than flip it for profit.
