The Build Story
Mat bought what he claimed was the cheapest Porsche 718 Cayman S in the UK — a stripped-out shell with missing body panels, flat tyres and extensive damage, purchased for just £18,500. The car was in terrible condition but the mid-engine platform was worth saving.
The rebuild transformed the wreck into a road-legal sports car with GT4 bodywork including a new diffuser, custom exhaust system and full body repairs. The total build cost came to approximately £45,791 — which Mat demonstrated was actually competitive with buying a similar Cayman S in good condition from the used market.
