Mat purchased a crash-damaged 2024 Aston Martin DB12 at auction with only 29 miles on the clock. The car had been totalled during a pre-delivery inspection (PDI) when it flew off a wet test track. He challenged himself to rebuild it within 24 hours.
After 24 hours of intensive work costing $78,000 on top of the $76,000 purchase price, the car looked healthier externally but still wouldn't start due to unresolved fuel and airbag issues. The project was ultimately halted — the DB12 was a custom-order for a specific customer, making parts extremely difficult to source. Missing components including the bonnet, headlamps, steering wheel and airbags couldn't arrive in time. Aston Martin reportedly wanted the car scrapped and was unhappy about it being sold at auction.
