Mat Armstrong is attempting to rebuild a $6 million Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport that crashed in Miami. Bugatti declared the car a total loss โ a technician found heavy front-end damage: deployed airbags, cracked carbon fibre, destroyed headlights, twisted frame. Bugatti then locked the VIN, blocking any authorised dealer from selling replacement parts. Mate Rimac said only two places in the world can split the car to access the damaged transmission.
Mat discovered the Chiron uses a bolt-on modular design with accessible fasteners โ he successfully separated the car into front and rear sections. The crash pushed the engine forward, damaging a coolant pipe and breaking a cast aluminium engine-mount support; the main block survived. His solution: 3D-scan the damaged bracket, convert to CAD, CNC-machine a custom replacement. Custom exhaust via Valvetronic. Rebuilding without Bugatti.
